 A Word from the new Director...

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as the "new" Director of Children's Ministries here at The Watershed! 

I say "new" because I actually started and ran our children's programs for the first 2 years of the church's existence, continued to oversee them under the previous leadership this last year, and have been serving as the Interim Director for the last 3 months. 

I am blessed to have been offered the opportunity to focus more energy into an area that I am very passionate about -- working with children and families and helping bring them into a closer relationship with Christ!  

I'm excited at... the growth that we've seen in our children's programs in the last 3 months, the folks who are stepping up into roles of leadership, and the direction that we are headed at this critical time in our church's development!  I look forward to serving the children of our community as we grow into the church that God wants us to be!

The Watershed is extremely kid-populated and family-friendly!  We are so excited to have so many children here, so we've put many of our resources into creating ministries that we think will benefit them the most.

Nursery

Our Water Babies nursery is a safe and loving place for children (infants to 2 years). It is staffed by a consistent and friendly staff who have been background checked for safety and who follow “Safe Sanctuary” policies to keep your children safe at all times. The nursery also has clean, safe and age-appropriate toys so your children can develop while they play. We use a paging system to notify you if your child has an emergency or needs you for some reason. Otherwise, we hope you'll go enjoy worship and focus on God!

SplashZone Children's Church

Although we always welcome and actually encourage kids in the worship experience, we know that the early years are often the hardest for kids to participate in worship. So we created the SplashZone Children's Church for 3-5 year olds that starts immediately following the Children's Time in the main worship experience.  During the greeting time, you have the option of taking your 3-5 year old to SplashZone, where they will have a worship experience just for them -- including songs, a craft, games, and activities that all reinforce a particular Bible story.  Who knew learning about God could be so much fun?!

Wet-N-Wild – where families learn together

We believe that parents, not the church, are the primary teachers of their children about Christ. And yet, so many parents do not feel equipped to do that. So we're trying something different . . . a family learning experience aimed at preschool and elementary-aged kids with music, skits, videos, and activities that reinforce a particular virtue each month.  We also have a small group discussion and prayer time where the parents are the small group leaders of their own children.  Don't worry... we give you guidance with some sample questions.  And we'll even give you suggestions of some things you can do at home to keep the discussion going throughout the week.  We're really excited about this cutting edge concept!  So come join us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 for Wet-N-Wild Family Sunday School, followed by our worship service at 10:30.  Just don't be surprised if your kids start dragging YOU to church!
