Hey friends,

As our Vision Team continues to go through a clarity process, I want to begin to lift up to you some of the distinctive things we have isolated about our church.  Some of these may be a surprise to you and others may not be, but I thought putting this information out there might start a conversation about who we are becoming as The Watershed!

 1)  We see in our congregation creativity, both in the area of the music and the arts, but also just a heart for creative problem solving . . . even our engineers love to solve problems in creative ways.

 2)  We see our church as being externally focused - a church that is and is becoming more every day, a collection of people who really want to shed God's love outside the four walls of the church. We've seen that time and time again with the free Festivals we do, the water we deliver to our neighbors, the water wells we dig in developing nations and even the wheelchair ramp we built recently for a church member coming home from the hospital.  You seem to be very passionate about blessing the community and beyond - about being the hands and feet of Christ in the world.

3)  We see our church as intentionally valuing multiple generations, as seen in our all-family Sunday School, our multi-generational approach to worship and the make-up of our congregation which has children, youth, young adults, singles of different age, families, empty-nesters, etc . . . Many churches tend to lean either on accident or on purpose in one direction or the other.  We seem to embrace people of all ages and lifestages - no matter who you are or where you've been.

4)  We see our church as trying to be the kind of church that would inspire people to want to have a deeper relationship with Jesus.  As we constantly talk about, we want to be a church known for its love, generosity and compassion.  We want to live in such a way that people might see the way we are trynig to authentically and lovingly follow Christ and decide that they want to follow Him too.  We have a desire that people who have been burned by religion, legalism or inauthentic Christianity, might see in us a diferent kind of church.  That's why we put on many of our mailers . . . church. different.

That's just some of the things we see that are unique about you, the church.  And every week god is drawing more and more people to want to walk down the road of faith together.  That's just going to make us stronger and better!  I don't know about you, but I'm excited about who God is making us into!

See you at the picnic Saturday or at church on Sunday!
