If you're like me, you need more of it in your life!  And one of the best sources of God's peace comes from prayer.  So why don't we pray more?  Are we so busy that we can't find a moment to ourselves, let alone time with God in prayer.  Are we confused about what prayer is and why we do it?  Are we afraid to believe that prayer matters because we're afraid God will let us down?  Are we uncomfortable being that vulnerable with God in prayer?

I suspect we all have our own reasons for our constant or seasonal prayerlessness.  But maybe the root cause of some of our prayerlessness stems from the fact that we have bought into myths about prayer.  We have told ourselves that we should not pray for ourselves.  We have believed the modern myth that prayer doesn't really change anything or the prosperity gospel lie that prayer changes everything.  We have have even allowed ourselves to be fooled into thinking that we have to know the right words in order to pray.  Well, no more!

Starting February 21st, we will be starting a series on busting the myths about prayer.  It will last six weeks during the season of Lent and end just before Easter.  During the series, we will tackle each of these myths and you will be challenged to think about and practice prayer in some new ways.

We will also be having our Deeper Groups study prayer during Lent, based on a study called "Prayer:  Does it really matter?" by Phillip Yancy.  If you want to understand and practice prayer with us during Lent, e-mail matt@thewatershedchurch.com and he will help you get connected with a small group to do this study with.
